M.A. in Theology
The M.A. in Theology is an advanced three-semester program designed to cultivate rigorous theological scholarship, critical reflection, and faithful leadership for the contemporary Church and global society. The program combines philosophical foundations, deep biblical engagement, systematic reflection, and practical pastoral formation. The first semester grounds students in the history of philosophy—engaging thinkers such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Immanuel Kant—while developing a robust understanding of Biblical Theology I (Theology of the Old Testament). Seminars on research methodology and academic writing prepare students for sustained scholarly work and thesis development. In the second semester, students explore Biblical Theology II (Theology of the New Testament), social structural analysis, and the history and dynamics of global Christian missionary movements, including Evangelical, Pentecostal, and Charismatic traditions. (A holiday break runs from mid-November to early January.) The final semester integrates Systematic Theology with emerging Christian theologies—such as Women’s Theology, Caribbean Theology, and Liberation Theology—while addressing ethical and moral responses to contemporary issues including race relations, poverty and inequality, climate change, and Artificial Intelligence. Training in compassionate caregiving and counseling ensures that theological insight remains pastorally grounded. Students are required to complete a 50-page (approximately 12,500-word) thesis, demonstrating original research and theological competence.
